I’ve always been a tad quirky, marching to the beat of my unique drum with a wild imagination that knows no bounds. Design is a lifestyle for me. I find inspiration in everything that surrounds me, from horticulture to architecture. Though, I must confess that turning my sister’s Barbies into tattooed masterpieces wasn’t the wisest choice.

As a graphic designer, I am known for my ability to distill complex concepts into simple visual forms to promote clear visual communication. They say I'm the rarest of the rare, a unique breed known for being bold, quick-witted, eloquent, and always ready to make the first move. Authenticity is my currency, and I'd rather have the unvarnished truth.

I am an old soul who should have grown up in the 30s and 40s. I wanted to embrace the Mid-Century Modern design style marked by simplicity, functionality, and innovation, rebelling against conventional norms while remaining a subset of modern design to capture the timelessness of my personality. During this period, designers and architects were eager to create new ideas that married mass production and technology with a more optimistic outlook for the future.

While listening to John Coltrane, I created a visual tapestry by playing with the positive and negative space in scattering shapes across the canvas to reflect the improvisational energy and movement of the era to guide the user toward the constellations where my magic could flourish. I drew inspiration from my background in the print industry as I crafted a vibrant accent color palette with a CMYK twist. I chose Futura as my font family because the typography of the Bauhaus movement played a pivotal role during this era, as the fonts are clean, geometric, and minimalistic. Also, I am influenced by Walter Gropius because he produced some of my favorite posters and interior designs.

TESTIMONIALS

Kathleen Chapman, SGS & Co.

I have worked closely with Jo since 2020 in the Design Adaptation Department at SGS&CO. While some employees have struggled to work from home, Jo has adapted well. She has shown a great work ethic and has excelled in her work. She works great under pressure and with tight deadlines. She has strong attention to detail. She has recently been promoted to the QC lead. Under her leadership, the QC department has significantly decreased the number of QIs received.

Jenna Elbert, SGS & Co.

I’ve come to know Joanna Gochoel during the two years we worked together at Southern Graphic Systems, LLC. Jo works as a Quality Control Operator. Since she began and continues today, she has fully taken on all the various obligations required outside her position. She analyzes complex artwork, organizes different brand rules, can offhandedly differentiate requirements per brand, and investigates outages until the root cause is discovered, to name a few.
